Welcome to Brookwood High School Orchestra!

The Brookwood Orchestra Parents Association (BOPA) endeavors to support the orchestra directors of Brookwood High School in achieving excellence for all components of the orchestra program. Our program serves over 300 students in six different orchestras.  Your child will have a tremendous support group through the Orchestra Directors and the Brookwood Orchestra Parent Association.  We view this as an “investment” in the lives of our student musicians to set them up for future success at Brookwood, as well as for their potential participation in local/regional or state youth orchestras, and any eligible scholarships available through colleges and university orchestra programs.  Your student’s investment in time, practice, and more practice, will continue to pay dividends in their life as they embrace their talent through the Arts.
As we prepare for a digital start to the 2020-2021 school year, we are facing challenges that we have not encountered before. Your student and your families’ safety is our top priority, therefore our scheduled events are subject to change to a virtual format. We are working to envision a school year where your student will still be able to significantly learn and grow as a musician, but more on an individual level. As much as we love working as a large ensemble, this year will be our opportunity for students to really focus on their personal performance skills, and also dive into other musical topics.
Each student is responsible for only one program fee each year.  As part of the budgeting process, BOPA will determine the program fees applicable to each student according to their grade level as well as sibling discounts. These funds go toward creating an enriching orchestra experience for your student. This typically includes social festivities like our tailgate, s’morchestra, and mini-camp events, inviting professional musicians to come and perform or work with the students, and maintaining an up-to-date and resource-rich classroom for the best possible instruction for your student. BOPA continues to support the students and directors in the shift to online learning and looks forward to implementing these events again.
