Welcome to Brookwood Orchestras!
Congratulations! You have been accepted into the Brookwood High School Orchestra program for the 2024-2025 concert season. As a Brookwood orchestra member, you will have the opportunities to cultivate your musical skills, promote creativity and enrich multiple skill sets, develop long-lasting relationships with other musicians, earn your fine arts credit that is required for graduation, boost your college applications with your orchestra commitment, and, above all, have fun playing music!
The Brookwood High School Orchestra program has been enriching the lives of young string musician students since the school opened in 1981. The program currently serves over 300 high school students in six different orchestras. Membership in the Brookwood Orchestra program also allows students to pursue membership in Tri-M National Music Honors Society during their senior year, unique travel experiences both domestic and abroad, and service leadership experience through Brookwood Orchestra Leadership Team (BOLT). All orchestra students earn the fine arts credit required for graduation and many boost their college applications with four years of high school orchestra on their transcript. Additionally, Gwinnett County Public Schools now offers 4-year fine arts students the opportunity of a Seal of Distinction for their diplomas. High achieving orchestra students have represented Brookwood High School at the county and state level by performing in honor orchestras in Gwinnett County, in Atlanta, and in Georgia All-State Orchestras. Brookwood’s premier string ensemble, the Chamber Orchestra, has performed at the Georgia Music Educators Association annual conference (2009), the Southern Music Hall of Fame (2014), the New York Invitational Music Festival at Carnegie Hall (2017), at the governor’s mansion and the Kennesaw State University annual orchestra invitational, and for local organizations within our community.
Orchestras at Brookwood High School are co-curricular classes with required after-school rehearsals and concerts which are graded. Our orchestra program is supported through annual fees collected by the Brookwood Orchestra Parent Association. If you have any questions or concerns about the Brookwood High School Orchestra program, or want to explore more information, please visit www.BrookwoodOrchestra.com or contact one of the directors.

Do you intend to continue Orchestra in High School?
Audition Information
As an incoming freshman, you will be enrolled in the Maroon and Gold Orchestra. If you wish to be considered for placement in an intermediate or advanced level orchestra, you must audition for the high school directors. Please understand that you will not be auditioning for a specific orchestra, however, your placement is determined based upon the instrumentation needs and abilities of each ensemble, as well as your performance in the actual audition. Placement in an upper-level orchestra is not guaranteed, as you will be competing against high school students also wishing to move up. It is the directors’ goal that all students are placed in the orchestra that best suits their strengths while providing appropriate challenges for growing musicians. Audition materials are available from the middle school teachers or by request and should be prepared by February 26, 2024.
To audition for the Brookwood Chamber Orchestra please fill out the application and sign up to audition with your teacher.
The Program Fee Covers Almost Everything
The Brookwood Orchestra Parents' Association helps to ensure that all of our orchestra students have the opportunity to learn and grow in their own musical journey. By working together with the Orchestra Directors, OUR children/students are provided opportunities for enjoyable experiences and to build camaraderie with their fellow student musicians when they join the family of Brookwood Orchestra!
